PlaceTerrace, BC (via virtual care)
There is a need for Virtual Pediatric specialist services for Terrace and surrounding communities (including Kitimat, Hazelton, Stewart, Iskut, Dease Lake, Telegraph Creek, Smithers, Telkwa and Houston). There are a large number of children and youth in this vast geographical area with complex mental health and behavioural concerns. Due to a shortage of pediatricians in the northwest, the wait list for these has become very long. The Terrace medical staff is seeking a Pediatrician (or Pediatricians) with interest in mental health and behavioural challenges to provide assessments and ongoing virtual care to some of these patients. If a patient requires a physical exam, the family doctor or the Terrace Pediatric Nurse Practitioner can provide this service. Remote access to the EMR used in the northwest (including training and support to set it up) will be provided at no cost. Please contact Dr. Kirsten Miller, Northern Health Medical Lead for Child & Youth Health, with any questions ([email protected]).
