Why Should I Join the BCPS?

Physicians Membership Banner

The BC Pediatric Society works on behalf of all pediatricians in BC to advocate for better health outcomes for children and youth.

Join today, and be part of the BC Pediatric Society's efforts on behalf of pediatricians and children and their families.

Here's why you should join...

Advocacy

Advocacy priorities are identified annually. Pediatricians have been recognized as effective contributors to provincial advocacy initiatives. As the membership increases, so does the strength of our lobby.

Economic Well Being

The BC Pediatric Society represents the economic interests of BC pediatricians as the Section of Pediatrics in the BC Medical Association (BCMA), and as the Section of Pediatrics at the Society of Specialty Physicians and Surgeons (SSPS). Physicians’ compensation is negotiated through a formal process between the BCMA and the BC Government. The BCPS is very active in preparing submissions for this process and working to correct disparities among the sections.

BCPS Monthly Update

We publish a monthly update (newsletter) with current topics, interesting articles, links to useful websites etc.

Locum Registry

The BCPS established a service to provide a central source of information for those pediatricians requiring and those providing locum service.

Continuing Medical Education

Through the sponsorship of several pharmaceutical companies we have been able to organize multiple CME activities in Greater Vancouver and in the regions, in addition to the Annual General Meeting and Conference.

Regional Representation

The BCPS executive has representation of the pediatricians working in the all the health authorities in British Columbia. These directors act as the liaison for the pediatricians in the local areas bringing forth and communicating back on relevant issues in an effective and timely manner.
